Mesothelioma Lawyer

Mesothelioma is an aggressive type of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many the body's internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos and is often referred to as "asbestos cancer". A death from malignant mesothelioma is classed as "unnatural", and there are often claims for compensation, so the death must be referred to the local coroner for investigation. The cancer most commonly occurs on the pleura (the outer lining of the lungs and the inner chest wall), but it can also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity), the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart), the heart, or tunica vaginalis (the serous covering of the testes).

Many people who develop this cancer have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles or were exposed in other ways to asbestos dust and fibre. The symptoms of mesothelioma typically arise between 20 and 50 years after the initial exposure to asbestos occurred.
